Iron Bay Out Station

Photo
Iron Bay is situated approximately 8 nautical miles north of Deep Cove in scenic Indian Arm. There is over 1000 linear feet of docking connected to the shore where there is approximately 2 acres of club owned property. New decking was added for members enjoyment in 1999/2000 boating season with plans underway for a gazebo (for those not so sunny days).

Members use this facility 12 months of the year as it is strategically located out of reach of the northerly outflow winds prone to the area in the winter. There are walking trails that runs out either sides of the property for some great hiking. To the east lies an uphill climb to Granite Falls and Granite Lake and to the west the road will eventually take you out to Squamish. It is approximately 25 miles to Squamish and from spring onward the road sustains a variety of wild life from bear to lynx. The road is well maintained and is a beautiful walk past the Indian River.

Iron Bay offers many forms of activities to our members from gunkholing and exploring up the Indian River to an afternoon excursion to Granite Falls (either on foot up the trail or via Dinghy), camp fire sing along, dinghy races, friendly water pistol raids on neighboring yacht club outstations.

There are 2 areas for camping on the property that have little fire pits and lots of grassy areas. Many games such as horseshoes, bocchi ball and volleyball are the order of the day on a hot summer weekend and not to forget, the swimming is excellent as well. The water has been recorded as high as 79 degrees!

We feel that this is the prettiest spot on the Arm and a great place to sit and enjoy "Last Sun".
